I've gotta get it in gear!

Man this day really snuck up on me. And I have been the one reminding everybody that it was starting today! With trying to get caught up from our Lake Powell vacation I didn't have much time to get the points I would have liked today.

I am still trying to decide on my Wild Card points. I am thinking that it will be personal prayer, not eating my kids' treats, spending more quality time with my girls, keeping my house clutter free.

My weight loss goal is 6 1/2 pounds.

Weight Loss points?

I have been asked if there is any way to incorporate points for pounds lost. I am not sure how to do this and keep it fair since some have more weight to loose than others giving them an unfair advantage. I am giving this some thought and would love anybody's input on this!!


What about.... set a goal weight for the end of the 8 weeks- I think everybody would want to loose a little even if it is only 5 pounds. If you reach your goal you could get a 10 point bonus???

Let's get it started, yeah!

Get Ready...Get Set... Go!
We are getting geared up to start our family BIGGEST LOSER Competition. For any of you who have never seen the hit show, you should start watching! It’s a great motivator! On the show, people train hard and eat healthy and try to shed the pounds and get in shape for their weekly weigh-in. At the end of the season, the person that has lost the most body percentage of weight wins big.


We are gearing up to start our own Biggest Loser Competition. This competition isn't going to be just about losing any excess "skin" we might be carrying around, (because there are many who don't have much or any to lose) but its also about losing any bad habits we may have and gain good habit. It’s a competition to LOSE or GAIN anything that we feel necessary to better ourselves. This competition will be a FUN thing to do as an entire family. If you are already in shape and don't need to lose any weight maybe there is a habit you need to kick or gain. If you don't need to work on any of the above... We need you to join in as motivators for all the competitors.

If we all work together and motivate each other we can do ANYTHING!!

Biggest Loser
Rules of the game
The biggest loser competition is a point based game where you earn points for healthy eating, exercise, and personal well-being. The game is played in 8 week intervals with each competitor paying $10 to the pot. The pot is paid out to the competitor with the highest amount of points at the end of the 8 weeks.

The daily point system is as follows:
1 Point – drink 64 oz. of water daily
1 Point – 3 servings of fruits or vegetables
1 Point – 30 min. exercise
1 Point – each additional 15 min of exercise (on top your initial 30)

So if you exercise for 1 hr. you get 3 points. Example: Do a 30 minWork-out in the morning for 1 point and a 30 minute walk in the evening for3 points total.

1 Point – Personal Wellness. Example: Read a book, scriptures, ensign, lesson prep, something you can do to give yourself some quality "me" time.
1 Point – WILD CARD some of your personal challenges. Quit Diet Coke; keep your house clean, no sugar, personal prayer, etc.
Example: If one of your personal challenges is to not drink diet coke, and you don’t have one today you get 1 point.
MAXIMUM OF 2 WILD CARDS PER DAY!!

The points are on an ALL OR NOTHING basis.If you only eat 2 servings of fruits and veggies per day YOU DO NOT GET YOUR POINT!If you only exercise for 10 minutes YOU DO NOT GET YOUR POINT!and so on...You should be able to get at least 5 points per day and extra points for extra exercise and extra points for using your "wild card".

This is an on your honor point system. Please keep close count of your points... NO CHEATING!
The competition will be starting on June 22? All those who wish to participate, record your weight, and measurements i.e.: Chest, Arms, Hips, Waits, and Thighs this Sunday for your personal records. MAKE SURE TO WEIGH YOURSELF AT THE SAME TIME OF DAY EACH TIME --the best time is first thing in the morning.

For recipes, motivating ideas, and others accomplishments-- we would like everyone to email any of these each Sunday. Let us know how your week is going, what worked for you and what didn’t, any recipes and any motivations you might have. We will add everything you email into the blog weekly for others to read and enjoy.

This is going to be a way fun family competition. We hope that everyone will participate in one way or another, weather you’re a competitor or a cheerleader!
